Tent Peak Climbing is also one of the relatively easier climbing peaks of Nepal. Therefore, it is suitable for novice trekkers and first-time mountaineers. The journey begins with a lovely drive from Kathmandu to one of the most famous tourist hubs of the country- Pokhara. Situated close to the Annapurna Himalayas, the city presents many highlights, including the gorgeous Phewa Lake. Then the trip presents you wonderful sights and views of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri peaks as you move through the alpine woodlands of the Annapurna valley.

Moreover, the journey includes many ethnic Magar and Brahmin settlements and villages, such as Nayapul and Ulleri. One of the hallmarks of the trip is also the viewpoint of Poonhill. Day to Day Itinerary
Expand all

You may arrive at the airport at any time. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by one of our team members, and he will help you get transferred to your Hotel. There are no planned activities for the day, so you may check into your Hotel and relax. Overnights stay at the Hotel.

This day is reserved for a sightseeing tour of the four major UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu. You will visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath Temple, the Swayambhunath Stupa, and the Boudhanath Temple. Each of the sites presents a beautiful insight into Nepal’s history and cultural prominence, including unique architecture and religious significance that you can learn about. After the tour, you can also browse the many shops around your Hotel that see and rent peak climbing equipment as preparation for your upcoming trek. Overnights stay at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

Today, you will have a lovely drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The drive takes you through the countryside, and you can catch fleeting glimpses of the countryside life of Nepal as well. The road to Pokhara goes through the hillside road, and dirt tracks dug into the side of the cliffs. Thus, you can enjoy natural sceneries as you meander through the valley into the Annapurna. As you come close to Pokhara, you can also glimpse your first views of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri Himal. Upon arriving in Pokhara, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnights stay at the Hotel in Pokhara.

You will take another drive from Pokhara to Nayapul today, heading north-west along the Baglung Rajmarga Road. This is a scenic drive, and the vehicle climbs up the valley in altitude, passing windy ridges towards Nayapul. From there, you will leave your vehicle and begin trekking. If the weather is clear, you will have a good view of the Machhapuchhre Himal (Fishtail) from here. The Machhapuchhre Peak is one of the most distinctive peaks in the area. Passing through cultivated farmlands of barley and buckwheat, you will make your way to Ulleri. You will also be crossing several small streams along the way via suspension bridges. Finally, after about an hour or two of hiking through the valley, you will reach Ulleri. The small settlement of Ulleri is also sometimes referred to as “the balcony of the Annapurna,” a name fitting for a famous trekker’s stop. Overnights stay at Ulleri.

The trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani is similar to your trek from Nayapul, except much of the trekking trail to Ghorepani is steep with very few flat areas to walk on. Trekking through the woodland hills, you will likely reach Ghorepani in the late afternoon. The trek to this wonderful village is filled with rhododendron trees, and springtime turns the entire valley into a wonderland. Because the trees bloom so magnificently, the entire area resembles an exotic garden rather than a forest. As you gain elevation, you will also begin to notice the change in the flora- the alpine woods become more humid and denser. The glimpse of the Machhapuchhre Peak upon the tree line is also a majestic view. Overnights stay at Ghorepani.

Early in the morning, before dawn, you will hike up the cliffs over Ghorepani towards Poonhill. From here, you are presented with a grand panorama of the entire Annapurna massif. The sunrise view from Poon hill is simply spectacular! As the sun’s rays rise from behind the mountain peaks, you can see the changing colors of the Himalayas going from silvery streaks to golden lava. After Poonhill, you will hike back down to Ghorepani, have breakfast, and begin your trip towards Tadapani. The trekking trail to Tadapani goes through the valley woods once more, and along the way, you can spot several stupas and small Chortens lined with colorful prayer flags. Langur monkeys also inhabit the woodlands here, and you can spot several of them in the trees as you make your trek today. Overnights stay at Tadapani.

From Tadapani, you will follow the trail that ascends the hills towards Chhomrong. After reaching a ridge that overlooks the valley below, you will then begin your gradual descent. The trail consists of crossing suspension bridges and walking past giant rhododendron forests. You will also hike along the crop fields going through lush birch and pine jungles. The alpine woods are home to a myriad of birds. Eventually, you will reach Chhomrong. The villages sprawl across the hillside adjacent to mountains such as the Hiunchuli peak, the Machhapuchhre Himal, and the Annapurna South towering over. Overnights stay at Chhomrong.

The trek from Chhomrong leads through a thick canopy of pine and cedar trees. The chartreuse shade of the woods makes seeing the mountains a bit difficult, but once you reach the clearing, the views of the Annapurna peaks line the horizons once more. Crossing smaller streams and passing by wispy waterfalls, you will reach the Bamboo Lodge. The views of the mountain peaks from the Lodge are quite amazing. Overnights stay at Bamboo.

The ambiance of the woods changes as you move ahead from Bamboo Lodge to the Himalayan Hotel. The forest starts to fade away, and the path then leads to a barren landscape strewn with boulders and scree. Finally, trekking through the rocky terrain, you will reach the Hotel. A little ahead of the Hotel is the Hinku Cave, a landmark that was once used as a shelter. Overnights stay at the Himalayan Hotel.

The journey for the day begins with a climb up a riverbed and hiking up to the Annapurna Sanctuary. The height gain on today’s trek is significant, so as always, it is best to be careful and not rush. The trek route also follows the Modi Khola trail. Following the riverbed, you will make your way towards the Machhapuchhre Base Camp. The base camp here isn’t a base camp as the climb to the Machhapuchhre Peak is forbidden due to the peak being sacred. Therefore, overnights stay at the Machhapuchhre Base Camp.

The hike to the Annapurna Base Camp takes about 2 hours. Trudging through the snowy terrain, you will begin to notice the change in the landscape as you gain elevation. The woods clear out below you, and the land ahead is instead covered in snow and rocks. As you get closer to the Annapurna Base Camp, you can see the towering peaks hanging over the horizon. Overnights stay at the ABC.

With a steady increase in elevation, you will make your way to Tent Peak Base Camp. It is a strenuous ordeal, but slow and steady climbing will do the trick. As you reach closer to the camp, you can witness giant panoramas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Peaks. Overnights stay at the Tent Peak Base Camp.

From the base camp, you will make your way to High Camp today. It is a gorgeous trail up the mountain, and the vast snowy fields make the trip mesmerizing. Following the trail, you will pass through the vertical terrain with your guide, trudging through the snow. Overnights stay at High Camp.

This is a big day! You will wake up early in the morning and make your way to the summit. It is best to start as early as possible so you can complete the trip on time. Following your guide, you will equip yourself with all the necessary peak climbing equipment and make your way to the summit. Using an ice ax and crampons and navigating the peak with ropes and carabineers, you will finally reach the summit of the Tent Peak. You can enjoy the glory and also bask in the accomplishment. After spending some time at the summit, you will make your way back down again and make your way to the Annapurna Base Camp. Overnights stay at the ABC.

Tracing your way back, you will move along the changing terrain towards the Bamboo Lodge once more. The descent down the valley and trekking through the snowy landscape changes to green vegetation is always a pleasant experience. Overnights stay at Bamboo Lodge, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

A few miles ahead of the Bamboo lodge is the natural hot spring called Jhinu Danda. The hot spring is situated beside the river, surrounded by cliffs on one side. You will trek through the valley woodlands and make your way through the dirt tracks towards the hot spring. Jhinu Danda is said to have natural healing properties and is full of earthly minerals. Upon arriving at Jhinu, you can relax and soak your body in the hot waters. Overnights stay at Jhinu Danda, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

From Jhinu, you will follow the trail conjecture once again back towards Nayapul. From there, it is a few hours’ drives back to Pokhara. The drive back is filled with wonderful natural sceneries. Upon arriving in Pokhara, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnights stay at Pokhara.

You will bid the mountains goodbye today and have a drive back to Kathmandu, going along the same highway as you did before. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your Hotel. Overnights stay at the Hotel in Kathmandu.

You will be transferred to the airport for your final departure.
